Patricio Salerno

After spending most of my childhood between city life and summers and winters in the mountains, I decided to chase the passion for ski teaching around the world. That passion has taken me to four different continents, over a span of 20+ years…and over 40 working winters…

After arriving in Zermatt, I knew I wouldn’t work anywhere else in the northern hemisphere.

Growing up, I was lucky enough to go on a ski holiday every year with my family. After shadowing my instructors and taking my first exams, I began ski teaching whilst at university. Since graduating, ski teaching, language teaching and scuba diving have taken me around the world, working in several countries. This will be my twelfth winter ski instructing in Zermatt.

Just a quick note to thank you for all your help. Learning to ski at 63 is quite a challenge for an average guy, however, in your expert care you made it an absolute pleasure. I am probably better placed than most to comment, having been a professional pilot for more than 40 years, and seen my fair share of instructors, some good and some not so good. Pato you are in that group of exceptionally talented individuals who can teach. I look forward to our next adventure on the ski slopes.

I skied with Adrian and as far as instructors go he’s exceptional. Adrian is gentle, patient, knows his technique really well and above all, he’s good natured. I would whole heartedly recommend Adrian to anybody looking for a good instructor who will go the extra mile to instil confidence in you by making sure you get your basics right.

LEARNING ANY SPORT IS EXCITING, learning a sport like skiing is a unique experience. I found that skiing is so dynamic, that the more experience I gained, the more I started to teach my students how to “move” better, instead of focusing purely on technique. This has giving me the chance to exploit my knowledge of biomechanics of the human body and apply it to a sport that has been a part of my life since I was 3 years old.

TECHNIQUE IS IMPORTANT, of course, but understanding what my guests need to improve on and how to guide them into better use of their skills is what continues to keep ski teaching so rewarding for me.

From very early on in my career, I understood that being a ski instructor is about a lot more than just passing an exam and getting a certificate. It is about the guests and providing the best possible experience in the resort they chose to spend their holiday.

MAKING SURE OUR GUESTS HAVE THE BEST TIME possible is my priority, from the moment they book their holiday until the moment they decide to come back!!
